Under 16 Div 5 - Round 5 V Oldcastle

posted 3 May 2012, 00:05 by Unknown user
After putting up a spirited display against table toppers Oldcastle on a wet and miserable evening in Bellewstown on Tuesday evening last, D/B still came out on the wrong end of a 5-8 to 8-8 score line. It was the opposition’s better team play that won them the game and if D/B could get their players together more often they surely would have been much closer at the end. The first half saw the game played in an even pattern with each team virtually matching the other score for score and the sides went in 4-6 to 4-2 in Oldcastle's favour at half time. On the resumption D/B got to level pegging with Oldcastle but the opposition's experience in playing better as a team paid off and they pulled away in the latter stages of the half. Good performances by Ciaran Gogarty, Aaron Seery, Matthew Branigan, Sean Carroll and James Burke gave good cause for optimism in the D/B ranks.
