Game: Duleek/Bellewstown V Dunboyne
A cool windy
but sunny Saturday morning saw Duleek/Bellewstown start well sharing the
possession in mid field. Duleek had a
few early chances in the first half but it was Dunboyne who took the lead after
5 minutes, scoring 2 points with no return from Duleek/Bellewstown, but a free
near the end of the first half saw Colm Regan put over a point to make it 0.2
to 0.1.
Second half saw Duleek/Bellewstown equalise with a well won ball
in the mid field by Brogan McGaghy who turned and put over to equalise 0.2 to
0.2, but that was the end of the Duleek/Bellewstown revival as opposing team
dominated the second and finished much stronger scoring 2 goals which finished
off Duleek/Bellewstown.
2nd Game: Duleek/Bellewstown V St. Colmcilles
This game saw Duleek/Bellewstown make a number of changes to
different positions from goalkeeper to midfield , and this proved a deciding
factor in the game, where they began much stronger with an early goal from Colm
Regan to give the Duleek/Bellewstown lads and lassies a great start this was
soon followed by great battling in the midfield by Ronan McGee and the half
forwards to win the ball and pass to Sean Courtney who popped over a point to
make it 1.2 to 0.0 to Duleek/Bellewstown.
The Duleek/Bellewstown defence didn’t have too much to do in the
game as the opposition didn’t put up a serious challenge. The second half saw the
entire Duleek/Bellewstown team rally together to score 2 more goals and it was
a fantastic effort by all to finish the game ending 4.1 to 0.1 in favour of
Duleek/Bellewstown. Ivan Murray put in a gutsy second half performance and also
David Maxwell and Killian McGrane played a stormer.
Well done to
our Community Games team.
