MFL: Dul/Bell off to a winning start
28 February 2011
Duleek/Bellewstown 2:12
Ballinlough 1:04
Duleek/Bellewstown
got their Minor Division 3 League off to a winning start on a fine sunny
afternoon in Duleek on Saturday 26th February at 2pm against Ballinlough.
Andrew Watters had to do
without a number of players due to injury and work commitments so had to field
a number of under 16 players who stood up well to the test. Full Forward Stephen
Lynch opened the scoring after ten minutes when he drilled the ball to the back
of the Ballinlough net, followed soon after by a well taken point by James
Burke. Ballinlough gave themselves a chance to get back into the game just
before half time when a quick taken free found its way into the back of the DB
net. Half time score: Ballinlough 1:01 Duleek/Bellewstown 1:08
DB had to withstand a
lot of pressure from the Ballinlough forwards in the third quarter, but the six
backs led by Karl Brannigan and Stephen Watters got back on top again. Anthony
Burke had a fine run from midfield finishing with a left footed shot into the
bottom right corner of the Ballinlough net and a free kick from Raymond
Hamilton put the game beyond any doubt.
Karl Brannigan, Stephen
Watters, Paddy Walsh, Raymond Hamilton and Anthony Burke played well for the
winners.
