FL1: Duleek/Bellewstown fall to Blackhall
27 March 2011
Duleek/Bellewstown 0-10
Blackhall Gael's 1-15
After putting in an excellent first half performance the East men failed to
impress in the second half as Blackhall Gael's recorded a convincing win over
the Duleek/Bellewstown in this third round division 1 league game on Sunday in
Batterstown.
Wing half forward Stephen Mc Ardle opened up the scoring after two minutes of
play to set Duleek/Bellewstown on their way. Mark Collins was next on the score
sheet as he pointed from a placed ball after Karl Mc Donnell was fouled to
leave it two points each after ten minutes of play.
Further
points from John Flood, Gordon Hynes, Chris Carney, Mark Collins and corner
forward James Deveraux left it 0-07 to 0-05 in favour of Duleek/Bellewstown as
they dominated the opening interval.
The second half saw the
Blackhall Gael's men dominate as the Duleek/Bellewstown seemed to go to sleep.
They only accounted for three points in this half compared to Blackhall Gael's
impressive 1-10. An early goal in the second half from Blackhall Gael's seemed
to cause the East Meath men to drop their
head's and they failed to recover from this blow.
Although
Duleek/Bellewstown where missing a few from their normal starting fifteen, this
heavy defeat may suggest that they have a lot of work to do in order to be
ready for the championship in 3 weeks time.
Scorer's for Duleek/Bellewstown
in the second interval came in the form of John Flood (free), Chris Carney and
Stephen Mc Ardle.
