A League Division - Round 5 V Blackhall Gaels

Duleek/Bellewstown recorded their first win in the league against Blackhall Gaels played in perfect conditions in Bellewstown on Saturday evening.

Midfield man Tony Cunningham opened the home sides scoring account with a fine effort after four minutes of play. Half back Stephen Mc Ardle was next to point after an excellent run forward. There were further points from Peter Curran (0-02), Stephen Nolan (0-01), John Flood (0-01) and Cianan Byrne (0-01) but it was corner forward Cianan Byrne that got the all important goal during the midway mark after a goal mouth scramble to leave it 1-08 to 0-06 at the interval in favour of the East Meath men.

Impressive midfielder Tony Cunningham was once again the man to open up the scoring for Duleek/Bellewstown with an excellent long range effort after two minutes of play.

Nolan Cunningham, Curran and sub Anthony Burke added further points during this interval to leave three points the difference at the final whistle in favour of Duleek/Bellewstown.

Duleek/Bellewstown were unfortunate to lose their captain Podge Howard through a nasty shoulder injury in the second half. Best for the home side were Johnny Mc Donnell, Tony Cunningham, Eanna Byrne, Stephen Nolan and Peter Curran.
